FULL DIRECTIONS

DoES Liverpool is a thriving local tech hub, hackerspace, co-working space and so much more. They have brilliant facilities and we’re very grateful of their support. There’s some good directions to find the place on their website and also a great explanation of the community and the philosophy behind it, plus their amazing workshop full of lovely things such as 3D printers and laser cutters.

After the talk (or if there’s no talk then after some chit-chat) we venture to one of the local drinking establishments.

    • @Ciaran – Sorry for the late reply. Our meetings are always free and there is no membership fee for the LUG. Just come along if you’d like and say hello 🙂

    • Hi Robert, yes our next meeting is Wednesday Jan 4th 2017 @ 7pm in Gostin’s Building. I’m just about to post about it actually.

  1. Hi Dan

I would like to attend on the next meeting. I’m an absolute beginner looking to improve my knowledge and meet some people with common interests.

  2. Hi Phil,

All are welcome, we look forward to seeing you. Please note that due to the closeness to New Year, the January 2019 meeting will take place on the 9th, not the 2nd.

    • Thanks for the reply Neil. Should I bring my laptop? Also, I have an amputation of the leg, is there a lot stairs to climb?

    • First floor is fine on the stairs for me. 5th is a different story! haha, but I suppose that would be the same for anyone.
Excellent, I’ll bring my laptop; it’s a 7 year old codger but still going strong!

      • Hi Phil, just wanted to confirm that the lift works fine and we have many wheelchair users at DOES on a regular basis. So no need to worry about the stairs! There is one flight, but I don’t know exactly how many steps it is, about 20 or so. Hope that helps, we look forward to seeing you at a future meeting 🙂

        Dan

  3. I do apologies for not coming last night. A family engagement imposed itself. Do you guys meet on any other nights e.g. down the pub?

    • No problem Phil, don’t worry. Proper physical LUG meets tend to only be first Wednesday of the month really but a few of us are regularly around at DOES Liverpool, the MakerSpace in town which hosts our meetings – http://doesliverpool.com

They have a brilliant workshop with 3D printers, laser cutters and other things. It’s free to attend every Thursday night (18:30 onwards) as part of a thing called Maker Night. There’s also a weekend event called Maker Day which is free too, all day on 2nd Saturday of each month (10:00-16:00). So it’s on this weekend. I won’t be there tonight but am planning to be there most of the day this Saturday if you fancy coming in to say hello and bringing your laptop? We can have a look at it. The space is fully accessible as we discussed and has a good lift. Feel free to ping me an email to dan@danlynch.org if you want to call in at any point. Best wishes 🙂
